Genetics

Course Overview:
In Echelon Catapult’s Genetics, students will first dive into the complexities of DNA and chromosomes! Then, students will learn about classic Mendelian genetics, as they trace a series of experiments done by monks studying genetics in the 19th century. Using their knowledge of Mendelian genetics, Echelon Catapult instructors will teach students how to use and perform calculations with Punnet squares. On the third day of the course, students will begin learning about complex inheritance patterns and analyze multi-generational pedigrees to determine patterns of inheritance. Finally, Echelon Catapult instructors will teach students about genetics on a broader scale -- mutations and the evolution of mankind. Echelon Catapult’s Genetics is filled with fun breakout room activities and games to reinforce concepts learned in the course!
